Therapy for Kids & Teens

Kids and teens can experience anxiety and OCD realated disorders as adults. However, their treatment often requires modifications to address their developmental needs. One key difference in therapy for younger individuals is the involvement of parents.

Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions, SPACE, is an evidence-based treatment that  is as effective as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. SPACE can be especially helpful with a child or teen is not ready to start therapy. A reduction in symptoms happens after parents use skills and tools to support (but not accommodate) their child. SPACE helps families with children experiencing:

  • Separation anxiety

  • Social anxiety

  • Generalized anxiety

  • Fears and phobias

  • Panic disorder and Agoraphobia

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
